Program and Academics
Cedarcroft School presents a varied program that fosters the child’s continuous growth and allows for maximum development. Cedarcroft offers classes for Mommy and Me, Preschool, Kindergarten and Pre-First. The Mommy and Me program is available for all ages 12 months to 36 months. The student age ranges from 2 to 6 years old. Each class curriculum is developmentally appropriate to stimulate and challenge while being fun and engaging. Our program schedule ranges from 2, 3 or 5 day morning to 5 day morning and afternoon programs. Before and after school care is available on site from 7:30 AM to 6 PM.
Self-expression, poise and grace are developed through music, rhythmic interpretation and gymnastics. Music plays an important role in our students’ lives through our daily opening exercises and structured, age and ability appropriate music classes. Students are given opportunities to experiment and are encouraged to do so at school. Well-equipped outdoor and indoor play areas develop physical skills during active periods and provide opportunities to share experiences, develop social skills, and gain self-confidence.
Interest in reading, art, math, science and nature is stimulated through hands-on lessons and creative work. Knowledge is gained by daily opportunities for creative endeavors and experiments. Manipulative activities develop multiple skills. These serve as a basis for greater appreciation and understanding of reading, art, math, science and nature during the child’s life.
Introduction to foreign languages familiarizes the children with different cultures, music, simple words and phrases. Cedarcroft has a large preschool library. A love of literature through reading and listening at “Story Times” is encouraged. Working towards reading readiness and reading skills are important parts of our curriculum for all age groups.
Parents and family members are welcome to drop in for a short visit at any time. If you or a family member would like to stay for more than a quick five minute visit or would like to volunteer at the school, please contact the school office to make arrangements.
